  • Wynyard Station is another heritage-listed underground commuter rail station located in Sydney CBD. The station first opened on 28 February 1932 (coinciding with the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge).
  • Martin Place Station is a heritage-listed underground commuter rail station located in Sydney CBD on the Eastern Suburbs line.
  • Museum Station is another heritage-listed underground commuter rail station on the City Circle route in the Sydney CBD. The station is at the Southern end of Hyde Park.
  • Sydney Metro is located at Sydney Central, travellers will find the hub for Sydney Metro. The metro is underneath Central station around 27 metres below the ground. Here, travellers can get around to the major points of Sydney.

How to get around Sydney

  • Light rail – Sydney’s light rail system is essentially its tram network, which connects most parts of the city and suburbs. Sydney has three lines that operate currently, Dulwich Hill, Randwick, and Kingsford.
  • Metro – Sydney Central is the main metro station located in the city. The metro system only opened in 2019 and more work is being done to expand its reach. Only one line operates currently, covering 36 kilometres and connecting 13 stations between Tallawong and Chatswood.
  • Rideshare/Taxies – You will be able to use many of the popular ridesharing apps in Sydney including Uber. Other popular rideshare apps include Shebah, Bolt, and GoCatch. The city also has an extensive taxi network with prices that may be just as competitive as the ones offered by rideshare groups.
  • Buses – Sydney has an extensive bus service network. If you prefer to stay above ground or the metro doesn’t go to the exact location, then hop aboard a bus to get there quickly and easily. The bus may be a cheaper option than other ways of getting around town.

What to do in Sydney

If you are bored in Sydney, then you simply are not trying to find something to do. The Harbour City has so much to offer that you may struggle to cram it all in.

  • Bondi Beach is world-famous and must be visited at least once on a trip to Sydney. It does get busy at the beach, so get there early to stake out a claim on the sand. Traffic can be crazy around Bondi Beach, so consider hopping on a bus and walking part of the way.
  • There is no more iconic building in Sydney than the Opera House. It is a true gem to look at and can be seen either up close or from a ferry in the harbour.
  • One of the most thrilling adventures you can have is climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It is one of a few bridges that can be climbed in the world, so take advantage of it. Groups run safe climbing tours that take you high above the bridge for incredible views of the harbour.
  • Australians love their sport and the Sydney Cricket Ground is an iconic location that draws fans for a variety of sports events. Don’t miss the chance to see a cricket, rugby, or AFL game live.
  • If you want shop and dine, then head down to Darling Harbour, a favourite destination for locals and tourists alike. A night out in the area is ideal for anyone looking for excitement on their holiday.

You have got to try

Fancy an Aussie food you cannot get back home? Try crocodile, which is considered a delicacy and not found around the city in many places. Grilled kangaroo can also be sampled. The low-fat meat can be found at Sydney steakhouses. If you want something more akin to home, grab a meat pie. But before you tuck in, squirt ketchup in the “dog’s eye” to be truly Aussie.

Sydney is the place to go on holiday if sunny weather is important to you. The Aussie city has mostly sunny, warm weather with mild winters. It experiences four seasons, but not all are dramatic like in other regions of Australia.
