  • Brisbane Airport The closest airport to the Sunshine Coast is Brisbane Airport, which receives flights from all over Australia. The airport has over 760 weekly flights and flies to 50 domestic destinations. You can fly into one of the country’s major international hubs before getting a domestic connection to Brisbane.
  • Train Once you arrive in Brisbane, there is still the matter of reaching the Sunshine Coast, which is 100 kilometres away. The simplest way to cover the distance is by train. Fun Fact

Although the region is now famously known as the Sunshine Coast, that wasn’t its original name. The area was once called Near North Coast. In 1966, after eight long years of petitions and pleading with the powers that be, the region’s name was officially changed to the Sunshine Coast and it has been attracting tourists ever since.
