• Hervey Bay Airport – The most convenient way to fly to Fraser Island, as you cannot fly into the island commercially, is to take a flight to Hervey Bay Airport. Flights from Sydney and Melbourne arrive at the airport courtesy of Virgin Australia. You can reach Hervey Bay Airport from Brisbane via Quantas flights. From the airport, you will need to take the bus/ferry to Fraser Island.
• Maryborough West Train Station – If you prefer to take a train to Hervey Bay before embarking on the ferry, then head to Maryborough West Train Station. It is the closest station to the Fraser Coast. Queensland Rail runs a service from Brisbane to Maryborough West making stops along the way.
• Greyhound Australia – You can reach Hervey Bay from Brisbane via Greyhound Australia. The bus service is not the quickest way to reach the ferry for Fraser Island, but it is another way to avoid driving.

How to get around Fraser Island

• Tour Group – You can find tour groups that operate on the island who organise trips and travel. A tour group should be booked in advance as they fill up fast.
