Park City

The largest Utah ski resort, Deer Valley, is located near the small town of Park City. Ogden is a city in Weber County, Utah, United States. It is a suburb of Salt Lake City and part of the Salt Lake City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 60,344 at the 2010 census.

Ogden was settled in the early 1900s by Latter-day Saints from Cache Valley and northern Utah, who were drawn to its numerous canals, rivers, and lakes. Early industries included timber, agriculture, and mining. The city’s name is derived from nearby Woodruff Creek (also known as Ogden River).

The area containing Ogden was initially inhabited by the Ute tribe of Native Americans in seasonal camps along streams and rivers. In 1848, shortly after the discovery of gold on nearby Clear Creek, two settlers from Vermont traveled through this area on their way to California with a herd of cattle. After hearing about the gold rush across the valley, they changed course and settled north of the creek in what would become Ogden Valley on February 1, 1849; they named their settlement “Ogden.”

After being approached by Brigham Young Jr., who was leading his pioneering company further west into what would become Utah territory, they decided to stay in.

Antelope Island State Park

Bear Lake

The trail to Ensign Peak starts from the parking lot on 3000 South and ends at a large rock formation called “The Cathedral.” The trail climbs through several switchbacks until it reaches The Cathedral and then continues to another rock formation called “The Castle.” After passing through The Castle, you will get to a junction where you can turn back to your car or continue straight ahead to reach the summit.

From The Cathedral, you can see all of Salt Lake City including downtown, Temple Square, Jordan River Parkway, and even Capitol Hill if you look closely enough.

Goblin Valley State Park

The Goblin Valley State Park is a place you should visit if you are in Utah. It is located in the Southern part of the state and is considered one of the most beautiful places in America. The park was named after its feature: a large valley with many interesting rock formations. The park features two main sections: the Lower Falls area and the Upper Falls area.

The Lower Falls area is where you can see impressive waterfalls and cascading water flows that make it look like an underground river carved out by nature. The Heber Valley Railroad

The Heber Valley Railroad is one of Utah’s most scenic railroads, only a few miles from Salt Lake City. The railroad was built in 1897 by the Heber Valley Traction Company to transport passengers between Heber City and Park City. The Union Pacific Railroad purchased the line in 1900 and sold it to a private company. In 1922, the line became part of the Utah State Parks System.

The Heber Valley Railroad runs from Willard Junction near Mount Timpanogos to Heber City and back again on Wednesdays and Sundays during the summer tourist season and on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays during the winter tourist season (mid-October through mid-May). The train travels along the Wasatch front through some of the most beautiful scenery in the state – including forests with plenty of blue spruce trees, alpine meadows with wildflowers in bloom, rocky cliffs overlooking canyons, and waterfalls cascading down mountainsides into streams below. The train also passes through several small towns, such as Cle Elum, Aurora, and Lees Ferry. This is where you get off at Willard Junction station after your trip up Mount.

Hidden Falls

Hidden Falls is a short hike to a spectacular waterfall in the Terrace Mountain range. The walk is only about a half-mile round trip, but you’ll have to climb about 600 feet up to the falls. The trailhead is just off Highway 24, near the small town of Crater Lake, Oregon.

The trail begins on a paved road but soon becomes an easy hike through forested areas. After about 0.5 miles, the path ends at a small creek that feeds into the Hidden Falls pool on the left side of the trail (you can’t see it from here). At this point, you’ll need to cross over the creek and up some rocks to get to your first view of Hidden Falls.

The best time for viewing Hidden Falls is during the summer months when there are no leaves on trees around you (i.e., after rain). If you’re lucky enough to see leafless trees in winter, wait until springtime because they will be much greener than their summer counterparts.

Logan

The preserve offers hiking trails through the tallgrass prairie and juniper forest, which are home to many species of birds. The Great Salt Lake

The Great Salt Lake formed five million years ago as part of an enormous Pleistocene lake called Lake Bonneville. The lake flooded during this time, leaving behind canyons and other evidence of its former existence. The effects of this flood are still visible in many ways, including cliffs and mountains that have been left behind.

The land around the Great Salt Lake was once covered with salt deposits from evaporated seawater thousands of years ago. When humans arrived around 10,000 BC, they began mining what they could from these deposits to use in their daily lives and for trade with other tribes or people who lived elsewhere in America.

Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge

The Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in Salt Lake City is one of the most accessible and easily found birding locations in Utah, but it’s also one of the most rewarding. The refuge is located on the shore of Bear River Lake, which is fed by the Provo River and surrounded by mountains. The lake is home to several species of ducks and other waterfowl, including Canadian geese, mallards, and other ducks.

The refuge is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and visitors can take self-guided tours or join one led by a ranger for an interpretive tour that includes information about the history of the area’s bird population and what makes this location so unique for birding.

Several hiking trails allow visitors to get closer to some of the birds in their natural habitat: red-breasted nuthatches and blue grosbeaks can be found along these trails near water sources. At the same time, chickadees are often spotted along woodland paths and roadsides near trees where they can see their favorite foods — seeds and insects — in abundance.

Bonneville Salt Flats

The Bonneville Salt Flats is a unique natural area in central Utah. The flats are remnants of the last major flood of the Great Basin, which carved out and isolated this vast stretch of low, flat land. The salt flats were formed by evaporating water trapped by ancient sea beds. The water is now about 95% pure sodium chloride, which turns into salt crystals when dry. The salt flats were formed about 10,000 years ago.

During an average year, you can see approximately 100 vehicles and more than 150 people visit the Bonneville Salt Flats. More than half of these vehicles travel at speeds above 60 mph on their way to the Mint 400 race held annually in mid-August. The Salt Palace is located on the top of Salt Valley Mountain, where a paved road leads you to a parking area at 3200 feet elevation. You can get a good view of the Salt Flats below and some excellent desert scenery on your way down into them.

If you want a peaceful drive through the countryside, the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway is the way to go. Along with the majestic mountains on either side, this path also passes by several tranquil lakes. A portion of the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway passes through the stunning Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.

There are numerous parking areas along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway, making it possible to spend an entire day driving slowly around the area and stopping frequently to take pictures and go on small walks.
You’ll see lush forests, vast ranchlands, and snow-capped mountains along the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway.

St. George

St. George, Utah, is a beautiful city in the southern part of the state. The area’s appeal comes from its combination of red sandstone cliffs, golf courses, and picturesque paths. This major city is home to numerous cultural institutions and culinary hotspots.

When in St. George, don’t miss Snow Canyon, State Park. This park is home to a diverse landscape, including red sandstone cliffs, slot canyons, petrified dunes, and cinder cones. People come here for a variety of outdoor pursuits, including walking, camping, mountain biking, and rock climbing.

Visiting Zion National Park is another must if you’re in St. George. Anywhere you go in the park, you’ll be surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Hiking trails in canyons provide access to the area’s water features, flora, and fauna, as well as stunning vantage points.

Lake Powell

Lake Powell is a must-see if you’re in Utah. More than three decades ago, Glen Canyon was flooded by a man-made dam, turning into the artificial lake of Powell. Because of this, the region is characterized by breathtaking canyons that are best explored via boat. Motor boats are ideal for exploring the lake, while canoeists and kayakers are also common sights (which is extra adventurous on windy or stormy days when the waves get HUGE).

More than 90 canyons surround Lake Powell, which stretches about 190 kilometers in length. If you don’t mind taking a quick boat journey, you can find complete seclusion and peace & quiet on Lake Powell.
